Campus Student Support Assistant – Nelson

Position Overview

OneSchool Global’s Nelson campus is seeking a dedicated Student Support Assistant (Teacher Aide) to join our team. This full-time, fixed-term opportunity centers on aiding secondary students, particularly supporting an individual student and occasional small groups in upper secondary years. Candidates with experience supporting students with Dyslexia are highly preferred.

Role Responsibilities

• Work closely with an individual secondary student and occasionally small groups within upper secondary levels.
• Support students’ autonomous learning across various subject areas.
• Maintain student engagement, motivation, and help them stay aligned with their learning objectives.
• Collaborate with teaching staff to implement effective support strategies.
• Assist secondary learners with diverse learning needs.
• Develop and apply strategies to facilitate student engagement in study activities.
• Contribute to planning and supporting the learning process.

Candidate Requirements

• Possess a compassionate and patient attitude with a genuine desire to assist students in achieving success.
• Exhibit strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Demonstrate empathy and patience in providing educational support.
• Capable of working independently while adhering to structured learning plans.
• Previous experience with secondary students (Years 7-13) facing learning challenges, especially Dyslexia, is preferred but not mandatory.

Work Details

• 24 hours per week, approximately 6 hours daily, Monday through Thursday starting around 9:00 AM.
• Position is for 40 weeks annually, aligned with the school calendar – school holidays off.
• Role is based at Nelson Campus, OneSchool Global New Zealand.
• Fixed-term appointment ending in December 2027.
• Compensation is above the state standard rate.
