Job description
Position Summary
The Campus Operations Coordinator at Henderson Community College is responsible for assisting the Operations Manager in managing campus maintenance operations. This role involves performing routine to moderately complex repair, maintenance, and operational tasks to ensure the campus buildings, grounds, and equipment remain safe, serviceable, and well-prepared to support all activities on campus.
Primary Responsibilities
- Coordinate daily maintenance, custodial, and grounds operations to uphold a professional, safe, and efficient campus environment.
- Conduct facility inspections to monitor cleanliness and assist with custodial duties when necessary.
- Support scheduling, prioritization, and oversight of preventative maintenance and repair activities for campus infrastructure and equipment.
- Perform general maintenance tasks, including moving and assembling furniture, light carpentry, drywall installation, painting, locksmithing, appliance upkeep, minor welding, and pest control.
- Regularly inspect buildings, grounds, and equipment to identify maintenance needs and safety concerns.
- Diagnose maintenance problems and propose solutions in line with operational and maintenance guidelines.
- Assist with grounds upkeep including landscaping, snow and ice removal, tree and shrub care, and litter control to maintain attractive campus grounds.
- Help oversee custodial standards and collaborate with the custodial team on sanitation and housekeeping efforts.
- Assist with project management, contractor/vendor coordination, and scheduling maintenance services to ensure quality and timeliness.
- Manage and track work requests, maintenance schedules, and service records to ensure prompt completion of tasks.
- Support event logistics by coordinating room setups, equipment arrangements, and post-event space restoration.
- Ensure compliance with college policies and legal safety regulations through routine safety inspections and emergency preparedness participation.
- Help monitor inventory, departmental supplies, equipment, and expenses, including managing annual inventory reviews.
- Serve as a communication bridge between facilities operations and campus departments, providing responsive customer service.
- Identify and suggest improvements to operational processes and facility services to increase efficiency aligned with the college's strategic goals.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's degree preferred; an Associate degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field is acceptable.
- Two to four years of experience in maintenance or facilities operations.
- Strong technical aptitude and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to work independently while adhering to established procedures.
- Commitment to workplace safety and regulatory compliance.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
