Team and Role Overview

This opening is for a Business Systems Analyst with hands-on experience in e-Transfer and bank-to-bank payment networks. The position suits someone who enjoys improving payment infrastructure, working across teams, and helping shape modern payment solutions in Canada.

You will report to the Practice Leader of the BSA team and work alongside other business systems analysts supporting modernization work, product improvements, and new launches. A key part of the role is turning business goals into clear, dependable system requirements and helping different teams stay aligned throughout delivery.

Key Responsibilities

The role involves gathering, documenting, and confirming both functional and non-functional requirements with business partners, users, and project stakeholders. You will also assess emerging technologies and standards in money movement and bank-to-bank networks, and evaluate how they affect Interac’s solutions.

You will contribute to planning, design, development, and release activities for new applications and enhancements. The job includes tracing requirements from business needs through to solution design and test cases, working closely with vendors and internal IT teams during development, and helping testing and certification teams interpret business rules and specifications.

Additional duties include supporting project management activities, onboarding projects, assisting with client engagement, clarifying requirements, guiding releases into production and FI environments, and helping Operations resolve production and implementation issues.

Technical and Domain Experience

Strong familiarity with Payments Canada work, including elaboration, document maintenance, and validation of functional and non-functional requirements, is important. The ideal candidate understands the details of bank-to-bank modernization and is comfortable adopting best practices that support effective customer systems and alignment with internal delivery approaches.

You should be confident using ISO 20022 payment file formats and familiar with ISO 8583 as well. Experience with data analysis and reporting tools such as SQL and Power BI is expected, along with comfort using Atlassian tools like Jira and Confluence for user, site, project, and workflow administration.

Requirements

You should have a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Systems, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience. The role calls for 5 to 10 years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst.

Experience with requirements elicitation methods such as interviews, workshops, prototypes, and process or flow analysis is important. You should also be able to work with requirements management tools and lead techniques such as use cases and UML. Experience working in environments with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities is required.

Helpful background includes knowledge of financial services, online and mobile payment technologies, EMV chip and contactless card processing, and Canadian payment systems such as POS, ABMs, acquirer systems, and issuer systems. Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, or iterative waterfall delivery is an asset, and exposure to fraud prevention or cybersecurity is a plus.

You must be eligible to work for Interac Corp. in Canada in a full-time capacity.

Compensation and Benefits

The hiring range for this role is CAD 90,000 to CAD 105,000 per year. A short-term incentive plan is also included. Final compensation will depend on relevant skills, experience, and job-related knowledge.
