Business Development Manager

About the Role

Astro Capital Finance is a rapidly expanding private credit lender extending its footprint into Victoria. We are seeking a dynamic and driven Business Development Manager based in Melbourne to spearhead our presence in this new market. This role involves creating and strengthening a broker network, originating quality lending deals spanning commercial, residential, and SMSF finance sectors, and independently managing the Victorian territory from the outset.

Primary Responsibilities

• Identify and secure private lending business opportunities by cultivating strong partnerships with mortgage brokers, aggregators, accountants, financial planners, and other referral sources.
• Manage the full loan lifecycle, from initial inquiry through structuring, credit approval, documentation, and settlement processes.
• Develop loan proposals, prepare indicative terms and pricing, and negotiate offers within delegated authority limits.
• Maintain and expand a healthy and active sales pipeline across Victoria, including regular travel to meet brokers and participate in industry events.
• Serve as the official representative of Astro Capital Finance in the Victorian market, embodying the company brand and values.

Candidate Profile and Requirements

• At least four years of relevant experience in finance and lending sectors, preferably within private/non-bank lending, commercial finance, mortgage broking, or similar industries. Highly motivated individuals with less experience but strong potential may be considered.
• Existing relationships and a credible network of brokers in Victoria, or the motivation and capability to rapidly establish such connections.
• A proactive self-starter comfortable working autonomously, with the ability to manage schedules effectively while working from home.
• Excellent skills in relationship management, communication, and negotiation.
• Solid knowledge of credit assessment methodologies, loan structuring, and security requirements.
• Possession of a valid driver's license with willingness to travel extensively within Victoria and occasionally interstate.
• A tertiary qualification in finance or Certified IV in Mortgage Broking is advantageous but not mandatory; focus is placed on drive and networking skills.
