Role Overview

The Barista position at Backyard is a full-time role based in Sharjah, combining on-site responsibilities with some work-from-home tasks such as managing inventory records, scheduling, and updating menu content. On-site duties include preparing and serving coffee, tea, other drinks, performing light food preparation, and keeping the work area clean and organized.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve various coffee and tea beverages.
• Handle basic food preparation for snacks.
• Maintain cleanliness and order in the workstation.
• Greet customers, take orders, and process payments efficiently.
• Adhere to safety, hygiene, and quality standards consistently.
• Assist with opening and closing procedures.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance service and menu offerings.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Proficient barista expertise including espresso-based drinks and equipment upkeep.
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills to create a welcoming environment and manage guest feedback effectively.
• Good communication skills to interact clearly with guests and team members.
• Competency in food handling with adherence to hygiene and safety protocols.
• Prior experience in cafés or hospitality settings is advantageous.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
• Basic cash handling abilities.
• Fluent in English; Arabic knowledge is a plus.
• Capable of standing for long periods and managing several orders at once.
