Role Overview
This opportunity is offered by a partner company based in Germany, seeking a Backend Engineer specialized in AI platforms. The role involves creating foundational backend infrastructure for cutting-edge AI-powered productivity applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect, build, and sustain backend systems that power AI-enhanced product features and intelligent workflows.
- Develop scalable infrastructures facilitating AI interactions such as inference pipelines and orchestration layers capable of supporting extensive usage.
- Deliver reliable API endpoints and services leveraged across multiple platforms including web, desktop, and mobile.
- Enhance system performance focusing on reducing latency, increasing throughput, and improving caching, batching, and streaming processes.
- Implement robust monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability mechanisms to uphold reliability in production environments.
- Diagnose issues within distributed systems, resolve performance challenges, and improve overall system stability.
- Work collaboratively with product, infrastructure, and AI teams to deploy high-quality features and refine system architecture continuously.
- Participate in architectural and design decisions contributing to an AI-native platform built for future scalability.
Candidate Requirements
- Extensive experience in backend engineering supporting production-ready systems.
- Proven track record in developing distributed applications characterized by high throughput and low latency.
- Expertise in Python programming; knowledge of Node.js is advantageous.
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and Docker for service deployment and management.
- Proficiency in managing SQL and NoSQL databases in scalable environments.
- Understanding of AI infrastructure, including familiarity with concepts like large language model inference, embeddings, and multimodal models.
- Strong grasp of backend architecture principles, API design, system reliability, and tuning performance.
- A pragmatic approach focused on delivering reliable and maintainable software solutions.
- Experience with AI platforms, agent workflows, inference optimization, or large-scale AI services is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of tools and frameworks such as PyTorch, OpenAI or Anthropic models, or open-source LLM ecosystems is a plus.
