About the role
This position is for an Autonomous Vehicle Operations Lead who will manage the day-to-day running of autonomous vehicle and robotaxi fleets. The role supports testing programs, commercial autonomous ride-hailing services, and the rollout of new city operations across Europe.
Working as the main operational leader in the depot, you will guide Safety Operators, Depot Specialists, Senior Technicians, and SDS Specialists so that vehicles stay safe, ready for service, and available for deployment. The job is central to keeping fleet availability high, meeting operational targets, and enabling smooth expansion of autonomous vehicle programs.
This opportunity is well suited to professionals with backgrounds in fleet operations, mobility services, automotive operations, logistics, or transportation, especially those who enjoy leading teams in fast-moving, technology-focused settings.
Fleet operations management
- Direct the daily running of autonomous vehicle and robotaxi fleets across one or more depot sites.
- Make sure vehicles are prepared for testing, commercial deployment, and autonomous ride-hailing use.
- Track fleet use, vehicle availability, charging plans, and readiness for service.
- Manage daily vehicle departures and returns to improve efficiency.
- Reduce downtime through careful planning and coordination.
Depot operations
- Oversee all depot activity to keep robotaxi operations safe, efficient, and well organized.
- Supervise the work of Depot Specialists, Safety Operators, Senior Technicians, and SDS Specialists.
- Confirm that cleanliness, charging, inspection, and maintenance standards are met before vehicles are deployed.
- Assist with depot setup and readiness for new city launches and fleet growth projects.
Team leadership
- Hire, onboard, train, and manage operational staff.
- Build shift rosters that support 24/7 fleet operations.
- Carry out performance evaluations and coaching discussions.
- Encourage a culture built on safety, ownership, and ongoing improvement.
- Ensure all team members follow operating procedures and safety rules.
Client and stakeholder management
- Serve as the main operational point of contact for internal and external stakeholders.
- Coordinate daily work with engineering, product, technical, and fleet management teams.
- Prepare operational reports, KPI dashboards, and performance updates.
- Escalate operational risks and create mitigation plans.
- Support customer visits, audits, and operational reviews.
Operational excellence
- Track key metrics such as fleet availability, vehicle uptime, dispatch efficiency, depot productivity, and operational quality.
- Spot improvement opportunities that reduce downtime and strengthen fleet performance.
- Design and roll out standard operating procedures for autonomous vehicle operations.
- Contribute to continuous improvement during robotaxi scaling and commercial deployment.
Health, safety and compliance
- Make sure company policies, local regulations, and operating procedures are followed.
- Help maintain a strong safety culture across all operational teams.
- Ensure incidents are investigated, recorded, and closed properly.
- Maintain compliance with health and safety requirements for fleet and depot operations.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in fleet operations, automotive operations, transportation, logistics, mobility services, or a similar environment.
- Proven background leading operational or technical teams.
- Experience working in shift-based or 24/7 operations.
- Strong leadership and people management capability.
- Very good organisational and planning skills.
- Experience tracking KPIs and operational performance.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Fluency in English.
- Preferred: experience with autonomous vehicles, robotaxi fleets, ADAS programs, or automotive testing.
- Preferred: experience in electric vehicle fleet operations.
- Preferred: prior involvement in launching new sites or depots.
- Preferred: familiarity with fleet management systems and operational reporting tools.
- Preferred: additional European languages, depending on project location.
