Assistant Librarian, Collection Development & Analytics

About the Role

The Student and Academic Services Department (SASD) offers comprehensive support covering the entire student journey from admission to graduation, collaborating closely with academic units to enrich students' academic experience. This position operates within the Office of Information, Knowledge and Library Services (OIKLS), responsible for ensuring seamless access to essential information and library services that support the university's teaching and research mission.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform data-driven evaluations of library collections utilizing professional tools to detect redundancies, gaps, and opportunities for optimization, and deliver actionable recommendations.
• Create and maintain dashboards and automated processes to enable timely, accurate collection status updates and promote smooth coordination among library teams.
• Oversee the management and enhancement of curated and special library collections, fostering accessibility, pertinence, and user engagement through collaboration and promotional initiatives.
• Assess and negotiate subscription resources based on evidence-based metrics, preparing necessary documentation to aid budget planning and renewal decisions.
• Stay informed on library trends and collection performance metrics, regularly identify anomalies, and continually refine collection development procedures to maintain quality and sustainability.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• A degree in any field is required.
• Preferably, candidates will have prior experience with library collection acquisitions, e-resource subscriptions, data analytics tools, scholarly publishing markets, or open access platforms.
• Proficiency in Microsoft applications, especially Excel.
• Familiarity with data analytics and visualization software such as Qlik Sense and Power BI.
• Understanding of library information resources and various acquisition models across platforms.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience in libraries or related sectors.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities along with interpersonal skills, emphasizing a service-oriented approach.
• Analytical mindset with solid problem-solving capabilities and strong numerical aptitude focused on optimizing workflows.
• Highly organized, detail-conscious, and capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Flexible and dedicated to ongoing learning in a dynamic, complex environment.
