Position Overview

The AML Business Analyst role is a contract position based in Toronto, Ontario, offering a hybrid working arrangement with four days onsite and one day remote each week. This entry-level analyst position will focus on AML name screening rather than investigative duties, working within a fast-paced, high-volume environment handling approximately 200 cases monthly per analyst. The role requires meticulous attention to detail, quick adaptability between multiple work queues, and the ability to maintain speed without sacrificing accuracy. The contract spans two months with a strong possibility for extension or permanent employment based on performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct AML name screenings against various watchlists including PEP, MSB, Adverse Media, and Sanctions lists.
  • Evaluate potential matches by cross-referencing details such as names, birthdates, and locations.
  • Utilize open-source research techniques to determine false positives.
  • Refer confirmed cases to the Financial Investigations team for further examination; no Suspicious Transaction Reports (STR) are filed by this role.

Skills and Experience Required

  • Minimum of two years AML experience, preferably closer to four years, including screening and handling adverse media.
  • Experience with MSB and Political Exposed Persons screening.
  • Knowledge of AML screening tools such as World-Check or Quantifind is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent reliability, and ability to manage time effectively.
  • Capable of working efficiently in a high-volume, metrics-driven setting.
  • Adaptable, self-motivated, and able to learn new systems swiftly.

Preferred Qualifications

  • ACAMS/CAMS certification is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Previous experience in banking or financial institutions, especially at TD Bank, is considered beneficial.
  • Post-secondary education is preferred.

Work Environment and Additional Information

  • Work schedule from Monday to Friday during core business hours, totaling 37.5 hours weekly, with possible overtime.
  • Fully supported onboarding including training during the first 30 days and regular case quality reviews.
  • Contractors will have access to customer data and undergo TD Bank-specific onboarding and job training.
  • Benefits include medical, vision, dental insurance, and 401k retirement plans.
