Adviser, Organisational Development

Role Overview

This full-time fixed-term position, available until March 2027, is based in Wellington City at the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI). The Adviser will play a key role in fostering and maintaining a positive workplace environment that enables staff to perform at their best. The role primarily supports leadership development and workforce diversity projects while contributing to other organisational development priorities.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with senior and principal advisers and People and Capability teams to embed workplace culture principles across MPI’s programmes.
• Support delivery of leadership development initiatives and workforce diversity efforts.
• Assist in organisational culture, team development, and performance management projects.

Candidate Profile

• Experience delivering projects or programmes related to organisational development in complex or large organisations.
• Strong interpersonal skills with a natural ability to collaborate and build effective relationships.
• Organised and proactive with analytical and practical problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage programme activities, communications, and stakeholder relationships to ensure smooth progress.
• A curious, people-focused mindset, motivated to learn and help others succeed.
• Capable of recognizing when issues require escalation to maintain successful outcomes.

Team Environment

The Adviser will join the Organisational Development team, a diverse group of subject matter experts including Principal and Senior Advisers, working together to develop initiatives, tools, and programmes that support MPI’s cultural and capability goals. The team focuses on leadership development, building Māori capabilities, fostering inclusive workplaces, and nurturing early career talent.

Salary

The position is classified within Salary Band F, offering a range between $77,992 and $100,098 per annum, depending on skills and experience.
