About the Role
We are seeking a detail-focused and dependable Accountant to become a key member of our finance team. This role is crucial for ensuring precise financial reporting, smooth accounting operations, and informed decision-making within the business. You will oversee financial recordkeeping, prepare reconciliations and reports, assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, and uphold strong financial governance and compliance practices. Collaboration with internal departments, management, auditors, suppliers, and clients will be essential to maintain effective financial operations. Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and record all financial transactions accurately following company policies and accounting standards.
- Prepare journal entries, ledger transactions, accruals, prepayments, and necessary financial adjustments.
- Conduct reconciliations of bank accounts, supplier and customer accounts, and general ledger balances.
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and yearly closing procedures.
- Compile financial statements, management reports, schedules, and perform financial analyses.
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable, payroll, expenses, and other transaction monitoring.
- Review financial data for accuracy and investigate discrepancies or unusual entries.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow monitoring, and overall financial planning.
- Prepare and maintain tax, GST, BAS, and other statutory records where applicable.
- Aid internal and external audits by organizing documentation and schedules.
- Keep accounting records complete, organized, and current in accounting software and ERP systems.
- Ensure strict adherence to accounting standards, internal controls, company policies, and financial regulations.
- Provide thorough financial reports and actionable insights to support management's planning and decisions.
- Collaborate with finance, procurement, sales, operations, HR, and other teams to resolve financial inquiries and improve workflows.
- Identify and implement improvements in accounting procedures, reporting accuracy, financial controls, and operational efficiency.
- Contribute to initiatives for process automation, system upgrades, and continuous improvement in financial operations.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Solid understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, bookkeeping, reconciliations, and financial controls.
- Experience in accounting, finance, or bookkeeping roles is beneficial.
- Proficient with accounting software and ERP platforms such as Xero, MYOB, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or equivalents.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and handling financial datasets and spreadsheets.
- Knowledgeable in general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations, and month-end procedures.
- Familiarity with taxation, GST, BAS, statutory reporting, and accounting standards is an advantage.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, numerical, and critical thinking capabilities.
- Highly attentive to detail ensuring precision in handling financial data and transactions.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities to juggle multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for engagement with both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
- Respect for confidentiality when dealing with sensitive financial and business information.
- Self-motivated with ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with stakeholders, auditors, and suppliers.
- Professionalism, integrity, reliability, accountability, and meticulousness are essential traits.
- Commitment to ongoing professional learning and adherence to accounting best practices.
- Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor's degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business, or related fields.
- Professional accounting certifications such as CPA, CA, ACCA, or progress towards these qualifications are a plus.
