Gray Mobility is dedicated to creating state-of-the-art, sustainable electric mobility products such as electric vans and trucks targeted at both Indian and international markets. This internship opportunity is ideal for hands-on individuals who enjoy more practical workshop engagement than purely conceptual design. The role centers on prototype development for intelligent commercial electric vehicles encompassing ambulances, cargo vans, and other commercial platforms that integrate advanced mechanical engineering with software and AI technologies.

Key Responsibilities

Assemble and construct prototype vehicles, battery packs, and mechanical assemblies.
Fabricate, adjust, and fit mechanical parts to support swift prototyping.
Assist in vehicle integration, testing phases, troubleshooting issues, and repeated design improvements.
Operate workshop machinery and tools conscientiously and safely.
Support machining tasks including welding, drilling, grinding, cutting, and finishing processes.
Collaborate with design teams to translate CAD models into physical hardware.
Contribute to supplier development efforts, prototype production, and transition to manufacturing builds.
Ensure high quality workmanship, adherence to safety protocols, and meticulous documentation.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Pursuing B.E./B.Tech with expected graduation in 2027, preferably in Mechanical, Production, Mechatronics, Automobile, Manufacturing, Industrial, or related engineering disciplines.
Proven practical experience in building tangible mechanical or electromechanical projects such as electric vehicles (Formula Student, BAJA, Go-kart, SAE), battery packs, motor integrations, chassis systems, or robotics.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings accurately.
Strong workshop skills including knowledge of safety practices and mechanical troubleshooting.
Experience with precision measurement tools and correct fastener usage with torque standards.
Competency in machining operations like drilling, grinding, tapping, welding (MIG/TIG/Arc preferred), lathe, milling, band saw, sheet metal work, and use of hand and power tools.
Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to quality and safety.

Desirable Additional Skills

Familiarity with CAD platforms such as SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo, NX, or Fusion 360.
Basic understanding of electric vehicle system architecture and battery pack integration.
Knowledge of GD&T standards and design for manufacturing/assembly (DFM/DFA) approaches.
Exposure to 3D printing and CNC machining technologies.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must be available for a full-time, on-site internship of six months duration, commencing between July 12, 2026, and August 16, 2026. Candidates should possess relevant skills and a keen interest in mechanical engineering and prototype development.

Additional Information

This internship offers a stipend ranging from INR 10,000 to 15,000 per month.
Participants will receive a certificate and a letter of recommendation upon successful completion.
Informal dress code practiced at the workplace.
