Utility Locate Technician

Role Overview

ELM Utility Services is hiring a Utility Locate Technician in the Astoria, Oregon area. The company employs more than 1,700 people across the country, and this position plays an important part in protecting underground gas, electric, and communication infrastructure during excavation work. Using the LaunchPoint software platform and other field tools, the technician will carry out utility marking work that helps prevent damage and supports reliable service in the community. Pay begins at $20.00 to $30.00 per hour, based on experience.

Compensation and Rewards

• A company vehicle, fuel card, and cell phone are provided and may be taken home each day, allowing the workday to start directly from home and continue to the first job site without checking in at an office.

Responsibilities

• Work independently outdoors, using the provided vehicle as a mobile office, and complete a daily route of locate requests.
• Identify and mark underground utilities accurately, safely, and efficiently with paint, flags, and, when needed, whiskers.
• Use the mobile work system to receive and manage daily assignments.

Requirements

• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen, motor vehicle record check, and background check.
• This is a safety-sensitive DOT-regulated role and must comply with all applicable federal transportation requirements.
• Marijuana use, whether medical or recreational, is not permitted for this position.
• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Candidate must be at least 18 years old.
• A valid driver’s license is required.
