Role Overview
Sharpsmart UK is growing its transport function in Rainham, Essex and is looking for an experienced Transport Coordinator to support its healthcare service operations. This position plays a key part in keeping collection routes running smoothly, ensuring vehicles and drivers are used effectively, and helping the team meet all service commitments within a compliant operating framework.
Working Pattern
This is a night shift position on a Sunday to Thursday schedule, with a total working week of 45 hours.
Key Duties
- Manage transport compliance across day-to-day operations.
- Organise replacement hire vehicles when assets are unavailable due to vehicle off road status or scheduled servicing.
- Plan, review and optimise route schedules and wider transport activity.
- Book disposal time slots with approved contracted suppliers.
- Coordinate transport arrangements linked to disposal slot bookings.
- Investigate and resolve delays or operational issues between drivers and disposal sites.
- Maintain health and safety compliance throughout transport activities.
- Handle documentation issues raised by disposal outlets.
- Ensure driver hours, working time rules and other transport-related compliance requirements are followed.
- Work closely with drivers and internal teams to keep operations aligned.
Candidate Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience in a comparable transport coordination role, with a solid grasp of transport compliance.
- Hands-on experience with vehicle routing.
- Good knowledge of the Southern and London areas.
- Proven ability to build strong working relationships with drivers and support them regularly.
- Well-developed organisational skills with the ability to juggle multiple tasks and prioritise effectively.
- Confident computer skills, including Microsoft Office, with intermediate Excel capability.
- A full UK driving licence is required.
