TBM Operator

Role Overview

The TBM Operator will be responsible for running an EPB Tunnel Boring Machine safely and efficiently in line with approved operating settings, method statements, and the manufacturer's operating guidance.

Key Responsibilities

• Run the EPB TBM in a safe and productive manner, following the agreed operating limits, work methods, and equipment instructions.
• Track and control machine functions such as face pressure, advance speed, torque, thrust, cutterhead rotation, screw conveyor operation, and slurry or soil conditioning systems.
• Modify TBM settings as site and ground conditions change, while working under the direction of the TBM Maintenance Engineer or TBM Engineer.
• Keep a constant watch on machine performance, alarms, and instruments to reduce the risk of failures and unsafe operating conditions.
• Work in coordination with segment erector operators and backup teams during ring installation and machine advance cycles.
• Follow all safety rules and site procedures, including emergency response requirements and confined space practices.
• Prepare accurate operation logs, output reports, and shift handover documentation.
• Assist with planned maintenance work and support cutterhead inspection activities and scheduled stoppages.
• Share updates with shift supervisors, engineers, and control room staff on ground conditions, machine response, and production-related issues.
• Take part in toolbox meetings, safety briefings, and training sessions related to operations.

This role is based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India and is a full-time onsite position.
