Role overview
This position is for a Store Delivery Driver at B&Q Cardiff Gate Retail Park in Cardiff, Wales. It is a full-time role of 36.75 hours each week, arranged over four days, on a permanent contract. Working shifts may fall anywhere between Monday and Sunday, from 7:00 am to 9:00 pm. The UK notional pay rate is £13.85 per hour.
The role involves frequent heavy lifting, so applicants should be comfortable handling substantial items and working safely in a physically demanding environment.
About the role
B&Q aims to help customers improve their homes with practical advice, tools, and support. As a Store Delivery Driver, you will help ensure deliveries reach customers on time and in excellent condition, while providing strong customer service at every stage.
B&Q’s larger digital hub stores deliver locally to customers’ homes. Delivery loads in the 3.5-ton vans can vary from small paint tins to large flooring packs, so the job combines driving, loading, unloading, and customer interaction. When not out on deliveries, you will work on the shopfloor, using new technology to process customer orders and assist colleagues where required.
What you will do
You will deliver multi-drop orders to customers’ homes, keep the work efficient and safe, and act as a positive representative of the B&Q brand. The role also includes supporting store operations when you are not driving.
What the employer is looking for
B&Q is looking for a clear communicator who can plan well, stay organised, and keep things simple in a busy environment. You should be comfortable making practical decisions and working in a structured, fast-paced setting.
Driving and compliance requirements
A full manual UK driving licence is required (Category B/B1, allowing you to drive vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes). You must have held the licence for at least one year and have no more than 6 penalty points. Multi-drop delivery experience is helpful but not mandatory.
The rota is flexible and may include weekends, evenings, and bank holidays. If successful, your details will be checked through Experian and the DVLA to confirm the information you have provided. A DBS check will also be carried out, and any discrepancies will be discussed with you directly.
