Role overview
This role is based in Qatar and focuses on supporting the design and delivery of building services for industrial and infrastructure developments. The position calls for a mechanical engineering specialist who can produce safe, code-compliant, and cost-conscious solutions aligned with international standards and local rules.
Core engineering work
- Contribute to the design and implementation of building services across industrial and infrastructure projects.
- Develop engineering solutions that are safe, compliant, practical, and cost-effective.
- Apply standards such as NFPA and ASHRAE, along with relevant local regulations, throughout the design process.
Fire protection engineering
- Lead the design and review of firewater networks, including pumps, storage, and distribution systems.
- Design sprinkler, water spray, hydrant, and hose reel systems.
- Create fire protection philosophies, layouts, and supporting calculations.
- Ensure all fire protection work meets NFPA requirements and local civil defense expectations.
Plumbing and drainage systems
- Design complete domestic water systems for both potable and non-potable use.
- Develop hot and cold water systems and utility water supply arrangements for operational and maintenance needs.
- Plan and coordinate drainage systems, covering sanitary drainage, stormwater, oily water, and condensate handling.
- Coordinate water supply and drainage tie-ins with external utility providers.
Design calculations and deliverables
- Carry out firewater demand studies and hydraulic calculations.
- Size pipes and optimize system layouts and performance.
- Prepare design basis reports, calculations, specifications, schematics, layouts, detailed drawings, datasheets, and technical documents.
Education and experience
A full-time bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university is required. The role calls for at least 12 years of experience in fire protection, water supply, and drainage system design for building services in industrial and infrastructure environments. Prior exposure to multidisciplinary projects and teams is also expected, along with solid discipline engineering knowledge across multiple areas.
