Research and Development Associate I

Role overview

This contract position is for a Research and Development Associate I based in Cambridge, MA. The assignment is expected to run for 12+ months, with the possibility of extension depending on performance and business requirements. Work will be carried out on site at the Cambridge campus.

What you will do

• Contribute to the development of tissue-enhanced delivery platforms and associated portfolio programs.
• Prepare animal tissue samples for protein analysis and nucleic acid extraction.
• Run MSD- and PCR-based assays to support bioanalytical testing.
• Carry out cell-based functional studies to help characterize biotherapeutic candidates.
• Draft standard operating procedures and update or refine protocols based on published literature.
• Record work and results in an electronic laboratory notebook.

Experience and technical background

The role calls for at least 1 year of experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry, or post-bachelor’s research. Candidates should have practical experience with molecular biology methods such as qPCR, ddPCR, ELISA, and Western blotting. The ability to work independently, plan and execute experiments, and interpret data is important. Strong written and verbal communication, solid organization, and the ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional and matrixed teams are also expected.

Preferred background

Prior work with animal tissue processing, ELISA or MSD assays, and mammalian cell culture or cell-based assays will be an advantage.
