Role Overview
We are hiring a Quantitative Research Intern to join a fast-moving and entrepreneurial Quantitative Equity group in Vancouver for a 4 to 8 month internship beginning in September 2026. The team operates within a highly successful quant platform that oversees more than $75 billion in assets. It combines advanced quantitative methods with modern technology to build distinctive algorithmic investing strategies. A collaborative, innovative culture has helped the team deliver strong results for more than twenty years.
What You Will Work On
In this internship, you will contribute to a wide range of projects at the intersection of finance, data science, and technology. The work focuses on finding new signals of business performance and modeling inefficiencies in changing financial markets. The goal is to uncover fresh and effective investment insights.
Responsibilities
- Support the design and development of new investment models.
- Contribute ideas for potential new sources of investment insight.
- Use tools and methods from finance, data science, and statistics to solve research problems.
- Partner with technology, portfolio management, and investment process teams to help improve investment outcomes.
Candidate Profile
This opportunity suits someone who enjoys quantitative work and prefers a structured, evidence-based approach to investing. You should be comfortable working with senior team members and taking on varied responsibilities.
- Strong understanding of what drives company performance, how securities are valued, and how markets function.
- Ability to evaluate new datasets with both creativity and discipline to determine whether they can help predict company or security performance.
- Experience producing rigorous quantitative research, especially in finance, and balancing intuition with statistical testing.
- Currently working toward an undergraduate degree in finance, mathematics, statistics, computer science, or a related field.
- Academic excellence, research achievements, or awards are considered helpful evidence of capability.
- Comfortable in a team environment, open to feedback, and able to communicate technical ideas clearly.
