Purchasing Contract Administrator

Overview

This remote contract role is based in the United States and supports healthcare procurement through contract administration, sourcing optimization, and value analysis work. The position focuses on helping the organization make cost-effective purchasing decisions across supplies, equipment, services, and capital projects.

You will work closely with clinical leaders, department heads, and suppliers to improve alignment, standardization, and compliance in contracting. The role calls for strong analytical thinking, commercial judgment, and relationship-building skills, with a clear focus on lowering costs and improving operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities

You will manage procurement and contracting activities that support strategic sourcing and value analysis across the organization.

• Carry out contract administration and analysis to support sourcing, contracting, and value analysis efforts
• Lead or assist with RFP, RFQ, and RFI activity, including bid collection and proposal review
• Review supplier proposals and contract options to understand financial and operational impact
• Negotiate contract terms, pricing arrangements, rebate structures, and savings opportunities with vendors
• Create, roll out, and maintain procurement policies and standardized contracting procedures
• Track vendor performance against contractual terms and service expectations
• Support product standardization, conversion initiatives, and broader cost-reduction programs
• Perform spend analysis, utilization reviews, and savings validation reporting
• Partner with department leaders and clinical stakeholders to align purchasing plans and address procurement issues
• Maintain strong knowledge of assigned contract portfolios and supplier relationships

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, or a related field, or an equivalent mix of education and experience
• Background in healthcare contracting, sourcing, or procurement operations
• Working knowledge of strategic sourcing methods, including RFP, RFQ, and RFI processes
• Demonstrated negotiation experience with pricing models, rebates, and major contract agreements
• Familiarity with GPO structures, clinical purchasing, and physician preference items such as implants and medical devices
• Experience supporting supplier performance reviews, cost-reduction efforts, and contract standardization
• Strong analytical ability, including spend analysis and savings tracking
• Clear communication, strong interpersonal skills, and effective stakeholder management
• High attention to detail, plus good organization and multitasking skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and procurement/reporting tools
• Ability to work collaboratively with clinical, operational, and vendor teams
