Role overview
Our industrial division is handling a substantial and varied program of work for a major client at a pulp and paper facility in Kinleith. The work includes both capital projects and non-routine maintenance assignments, delivered by a dedicated site team with backing from technical specialists across regional offices.
This opportunity is for a Project Engineer to become part of a practical, collaborative, and supportive on-site team. The position is very hands-on and varied, giving you exposure to a wide mix of engineering and project work, along with strong scope to develop, build capability, and progressively take on more responsibility.
What you will do
- Carry out engineering work of increasing breadth and responsibility, with guidance from senior engineers when needed.
- Use engineering standards, procedures, and proven practices to assess and move technical issues forward.
- Produce clear, accurate, and high-quality project documentation aligned with client and project expectations.
- Support successful delivery by working closely with others, attending meetings, and coordinating day-to-day tasks.
- Communicate effectively with teammates, managers, and clients to keep expectations, progress, and timelines aligned.
- Work in a safe and cooperative manner, meet HSE obligations, and assist colleagues wherever required.
About the location
Kinleith is located beside Tokoroa in the middle of New Zealand’s forest industry. Set among farmland and pine forests, the area provides easy access to the natural attractions of the Waikato region. Rotorua, Taupō, Tauranga, and Mount Ruapehu are all within reach, giving access to activities such as hiking, fishing, hunting, and snow sports.
About you
You are an engineer who enjoys project work and has experience in either an industrial or consulting setting. You are confident in communication, build strong working relationships, and like bringing together people, tasks, and technical outcomes. You are well organised, inquisitive, and take satisfaction in delivering quality work and closing projects well.
Requirements
- A tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
- A project management qualification, or equivalent practical project management experience.
- Strong customer orientation, a practical problem-solving approach, and a willingness to take ownership.
- Experience in pulp and paper, or in shutdown project support, would be an advantage but is not mandatory.
What we offer
- Continuous learning and ongoing professional development.
- A supportive workplace that encourages you to be yourself at work.
- Access to learning opportunities from technical leaders and industry specialists across Asia Pacific.
- A collaborative culture with active knowledge sharing.
- Strong employee benefits, including discounted health insurance, reduced gym memberships, and social club activities.
Diversity and inclusion
The organisation values a diverse and inclusive culture and welcomes contributions from people of all genders, ethnicities, identities, perspectives, and experiences.
