Role Overview
We are seeking a Procurement Specialist for our Nairobi, Kenya team. The position is focused on strengthening procurement operations in Kenya while staying aligned with global standards. The role also aims to improve cost control, supplier performance, compliance, and the efficiency of import and export activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure purchasing activities follow Puratos’ global policies, procedures, and procurement strategy.
- Identify and source raw materials from both local and international suppliers in a cost-effective way.
- Raise, monitor, and manage purchase orders to support on-time deliveries.
- Handle import and export processes, including the required documentation and regulatory requirements.
- Liaise with freight forwarders, clearing agents, and relevant government bodies.
- Keep the supplier database current and aligned with vendor management expectations.
- Assist with supplier reviews, audits, and ongoing improvement efforts.
- Support adherence to food safety, quality, and sustainability requirements.
- Track inventory levels and work with planning teams to reduce the risk of stock shortages.
- Prepare procurement reports and share insights that support decision-making.
Candidate Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, or a closely related discipline.
- Two to three years of hands-on experience in procurement and supply chain functions.
- Prior exposure to import/export workflows and sourcing locally.
- Good working knowledge of international trade rules and Kenyan customs processes.
- Professional certification such as CIPS or CPSP-K, or membership with KISM, will be an advantage.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
