The Payroll Clerk supports payroll and related administrative workflows, helping ensure records are accurate, timely, and properly maintained. The position includes checking new-hire paperwork, entering and validating data, maintaining reports, and supporting a range of payroll and HR tasks. Qualifications
The preferred candidate should have a high school diploma or an equivalent qualification. Prior exposure to payroll, administrative support, or a similar office role is an advantage. The role requires strong attention to detail, good organization, accurate data entry, comfort with payroll systems or MS Office tools, clear communication, and the ability to handle confidential information responsibly. A proactive mindset, flexibility with shifting priorities, and a strong focus on accuracy are also important.
Responsibilities
- Check that onboarding paperwork for new employees is complete and correctly filled out.
- Enter information into payroll and HR systems with speed and accuracy.
- Cross-check entered details against source documents to confirm they match.
- Review reports for mistakes, gaps, or inconsistencies and help maintain data quality.
- Copy records for legal purposes, including subpoenas and other official requests.
- Receive, sort, and route incoming mail to the appropriate teams.
- Keep payroll batches up to date and moving through the process on time.
- Confirm raise rates and verify the details shown on raise letters before they are issued.
- Help with badge deactivation and related security actions.
- Support recurring projects such as benefits open enrollment, profit sharing, and W-2 distribution.
- Track employee leaves of absence and make sure documentation and system records are updated.
- Work with HR and payroll colleagues to improve process flow and accuracy.
- Handle other administrative tasks needed to support payroll and HR operations.
