Role overview
A leading food production business in Ireland’s Midlands is looking for a motivated and detail-focused NPD Technologist to strengthen its expanding team. In this position, you will support the New Product Development process by handling samples, dealing with customer requests, and contributing to the creation of new products from early concept all the way through to launch.
Working alongside the NPD and Technical functions, you will help build recipes, coordinate trials, keep product records up to date, and make sure development projects are completed on schedule and to a high standard.
Key responsibilities
- Contribute to the full product development journey, from initial idea generation through to post-launch evaluation.
- Prepare samples, recipe details, processing guidelines, and supporting technical paperwork.
- Assess and trial new ingredients, packaging materials, suppliers, and product concepts.
- Assist with factory trials, production scale-up activity, shelf-life testing, and sensory assessment work.
- Carry out risk checks on new raw materials and packaging in line with HACCP principles.
- Support ingredient procurement, quality evaluation, and regulatory compliance tasks.
- Work with suppliers, customers, and internal teams throughout each development project.
- Coordinate sample requests, stock control, and customer/sales presentation requirements.
- Track project milestones and ensure key development deadlines are met.
- Help respond to customer questions related to new product development.
Candidate profile
You should hold a third-level qualification in Food Science, Culinary Science, or a closely related subject. The role also requires at least 2 years of experience in a similar NPD or food product development position.
The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in food innovation, solid organisational ability, and excellent attention to detail. You should be comfortable working on your own as well as as part of a team, and have a good working knowledge of quality systems, traceability, food safety, and labelling rules.
What’s on offer
This opportunity comes with a competitive salary, pension, and bonus package. You’ll be based in a modern, well-equipped facility and join a company that places strong emphasis on employee development, technology investment, and continuous improvement.
It is a chance to become part of a fast-moving Irish food business where your ideas, contribution, and initiative will be appreciated.
