Role overview
The American Federation for Children is hiring a Mid-Level Creative Designer to create polished, high-impact visual assets that support the organization’s mission, with special emphasis on the AFC Scholarship Fund. This is a senior hands-on creative position for someone who can independently take work from concept through final delivery, keep branding consistent, and apply strong visual judgment across every project. The role reports to the Creative Director and is fully remote.
Key responsibilities
- Create compelling design work for both print and digital channels, including websites, landing pages, social media, paid advertisements, email campaigns, presentations, white papers, and other brand materials.
- Handle design requests for the AFC Scholarship Fund from start to finish while ensuring every deliverable follows brand guidelines.
- Develop and support the AFC Scholarship Fund’s brand systems and help establish brand governance as a scalable framework, not just a series of isolated outputs.
- Track evolving design trends, standards, and new tools, then suggest ways to incorporate them into the creative process.
- Stay informed about the public policy environment relevant to the AFC Scholarship Fund and understand AFC’s wider organizational viewpoint and messaging priorities.
Preferred qualifications
- Advanced graphic design ability with experience using Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator, along with PowerPoint and Canva.
- A portfolio that clearly shows strong skills in layout, typography, color use, and brand identity systems.
- Practical experience in web and landing page design, including tools and platforms such as WordPress, Elementor, Squarespace, Figma, and AI-assisted design or development tools like Claude Code.
- Video editing experience is a plus, though not required.
- Comfort working in alignment with AFC’s mission to expand educational choice for families, particularly lower-income families, in K–12 education.
- At least 5 years of professional design experience.
