Overview
This opportunity is with a global manpower services company supporting energy, infrastructure, and IT projects across more than 70 countries. The assignment is with a major oil and gas operator for a Mechanical Planner on a long-term contract basis.
Role Details
Title: Mechanical Planner
Location: Onshore Qatar site, Ras Laffan, Doha, Qatar
Start: As soon as possible, generally within a 1-month notice period
Working pattern: 5 days a week, 8 to 10 hours per day, or as required by the project
Engagement type: Long-term contract
Key Accountabilities
- Align maintenance planning work with operational KPIs and complete planning tasks on time to support efficient operations.
- Build detailed work scopes for company work orders tied to asset maintenance.
- Check planned jobs to make sure the needed materials, procurement items, tools, equipment, labor, contracting support, and logistics are properly arranged.
- Review incoming notifications each day to confirm they contain enough detail for planning, help define realistic TFUC requirements, support LACD targets, verify amendment requests, and cancel duplicate work orders for the same equipment or functional location where needed.
- Confirm that all related costs are recorded in the work order before it is submitted for management approval.
- Raise MDG requests when materials are missing from, or incorrectly reflected in, the SAP Bill of Materials in connection with work order planning.
- Prepare Material Return to Stock forms for excess or unused items sent back to the warehouse.
- Ensure planned work follows established company standards and procedures.
- Support the monthly preventive maintenance review cycle, prepared 12 weeks in advance, and develop PM plans.
- Maintain the SAP PM task list library and update task lists for routine and recurring major jobs.
- Assist with work order close-out by moving the status to Technical Completion (TECO).
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should hold a Bachelor’s degree or a Higher National Diploma in Engineering.
A minimum of 7 years of experience is required in maintenance planning and scheduling within the oil and gas or petrochemical sector, including at least 3 years in planning and/or scheduling roles.
Schedule and Conditions
This is an onshore Qatar assignment based at Ras Laffan. The work schedule is 5 days per week, with daily hours typically ranging from 8 to 10 hours, subject to project needs.
