Role overview

The Manager, Research will lead the Research business unit and oversee the delivery of research projects and related activities within the CCC’s remit. This role involves managing several significant research initiatives at once, coordinating CCC officers assigned to those projects, and applying strong analytical and conceptual thinking to research design and execution.

The position also provides expert methodological and analytical guidance across the organisation, works closely with both internal teams and external partners on research priorities, data access, and sharing findings, and presents research outcomes in a persuasive and accessible way. A key part of the role is supporting colleagues to prepare reports and create visual materials that suit a range of audiences.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the Research unit in delivering research projects and associated work aligned to the CCC’s objectives.
• Plan, coordinate, and manage multiple major research projects at the same time.
• Oversee and support CCC officers allocated to research projects.
• Apply advanced analytical and conceptual skills to research project design and implementation.
• Provide senior-level methodological and analytical advice relevant to the CCC’s work.
• Work with internal and external stakeholders on research priorities, access to data, and dissemination of findings.
• Communicate research outcomes clearly and persuasively to influence decision-making.
• Support staff in preparing reports and developing visualisations for different audiences.

Selection criteria

Appointments are made on merit, with assessment based on your previous achievements, the knowledge and experience you have developed, your potential for growth, and the personal qualities that reflect the CCC’s leadership competencies and values.

A relevant tertiary qualification is required, such as business administration, commerce, criminology, social science, or data analytics. Qualifications gained overseas will only be accepted where they have been recognised as equivalent under the Australian Qualifications Framework.

The role will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate:

• Substantial experience in designing and managing research or evaluation projects, ideally in work relevant to the CCC, including collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
• Strong experience delivering evidence-based advice and insights, ideally through quantitative and qualitative data analysis tools such as Stata, R, or SAS.
• Experience preparing evidence-based analysis and advice for varied audiences.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence, including strong analytical writing and the preparation of public reports.
• Capability to supervise, mentor, and manage multidisciplinary teams while fostering a collaborative work culture.
