Key responsibilities
- Lead the planning, coordination, and control of all logistics activities across a major building construction site.
- Supervise the end-to-end flow of materials, including delivery planning, receipt, storage, handling, distribution, and just-in-time supply arrangements.
- Oversee site access management, transport coordination, storage areas, lifting activities, and traffic movement in accordance with project timing, safety obligations, and quality standards.
- Create and maintain construction logistics plans covering site layouts, storage and laydown zones, temporary facilities, and logistics arrangements tied to project milestones and construction sequences.
- Coordinate closely with procurement, construction teams, and subcontractors to ensure site operations run smoothly.
Requirements and qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering, logistics, construction management, or a closely related field.
- At least 10 years of relevant experience on large-scale building projects such as residential, accommodation, mixed-use, institutional, or similar developments of comparable size and complexity.
- Hands-on experience preparing and executing construction logistics plans, including layouts, storage areas, laydown spaces, temporary facilities, and milestone-based coordination.
- Proven background in traffic management planning, including routing, delivery timing, traffic sequencing, and coordination of heavy vehicle movement.
- Experience planning crane usage and lifting activities, including lifting plans, method statements, and lifting schedules.
- Knowledge of site access control processes for personnel, vehicles, and visitors, along with gate operations, permit systems, and security requirements.
- Strong command of material-flow planning, from scheduling and receiving to storage, handling, distribution, and just-in-time delivery.
- Ability to manage coordination between procurement, construction, and subcontracting teams.
- Familiarity with planning and scheduling tools such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Asta Powerproject, or Oracle Primavera Cloud.
- Experience with ERP and procurement platforms such as SAP ERP, Oracle ERP, Oracle JD Edwards, Microsoft Dynamics 365, or IFS Applications.
- Exposure to material tracking, warehouse management, and fleet monitoring solutions, including barcode or QR tracking, RFID systems, WMS, digital delivery tools, GPS monitoring, or inventory systems.
- MMUP/UPDA registration is required where applicable.
- Strong written and spoken English communication skills.
- Preference will be given to candidates with 10–20 years of experience in major construction projects.
- Previous Qatar experience is highly preferred; GCC experience may also be considered.
- Knowledge of local authority expectations and major clients and consultants in Qatar will be an advantage.
- Candidates currently based in Qatar are preferred.
