JIRA Developer

Role overview

NTT DATA is looking for a Jira Developer who can shape, automate, and expand the company’s Atlassian Jira setup, with a particular emphasis on ScriptRunner and Groovy. In this position, you will partner with business stakeholders and technical teams to turn workflow and process needs into dependable Jira solutions that are clearly documented and built for scale. The role also contributes to automation, process refinement, and continuous improvement across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Create, enhance, and support Jira customizations using ScriptRunner, including scripted fields, workflow rules, validators, post-functions, behaviours, listeners, scheduled tasks, custom JQL functions, and REST endpoints.
• Administer Jira configuration across projects, workflows, schemes, custom fields, permissions, and dashboards.
• Develop automation for business and operational processes using ScriptRunner together with Jira automation rules.
• Design and support integrations between Jira and external systems through REST APIs and webhooks.
• Work with stakeholders to understand requirements and convert them into solutions that can be maintained and scaled.
• Investigate issues, improve performance, and assist with upgrades and migration activities.

Required qualifications

• A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Demonstrated background as a Jira Developer or Atlassian administrator.
• Practical, in-depth experience with ScriptRunner for Jira and Groovy scripting.
• Working knowledge of Groovy and/or Java.
• Strong understanding of Jira administration concepts such as workflows, schemes, custom fields, and permissions.
• Experience integrating systems through REST APIs.
• Comfort with Git, along with strong analytical thinking, communication, and collaboration skills.

Preferred experience

• Exposure to other Atlassian products, including Confluence, Bitbucket, and Jira Service Management.
• Experience in both Jira Cloud and Jira Data Center/Server environments, including migration work.
• Familiarity with additional Jira apps and automation frameworks.
• Atlassian and/or ScriptRunner certifications.
• Experience working in CI/CD environments and Agile/Scrum teams.
