Position overview

The Medical University of Vienna is one of Europe’s leading biomedical research and teaching institutions, with about 6,500 employees and 8,600 students. Its Institute of Pharmacology within the Center for Physiology and Pharmacology is hiring an IT Administrator:in (m/w/d) immediately. The role is full-time, set at 40 hours per week, and offered on a permanent basis.

Key responsibilities

  • Take independent responsibility for maintaining the hardware and software of the center’s servers.
  • Install, monitor, and document updates and security patches for the Windows environment, and manage backups using Robocopy.
  • Provide troubleshooting support for hardware and software issues faced by administrative and secretarial staff at the center.
  • Develop new server-based backup solutions and coordinate second- and third-level IT tasks with ITSC and the Vienna Science Cluster/VSC.
  • Further develop specialized software used for patient data administration in pharma analytics and for equipment control.

Candidate profile

  • Completed Matura (HTL) or an equivalent qualification in the field of IT administration.
  • Hands-on experience administering networks.
  • Strong knowledge of database management and optimization.
  • Extensive experience operating and managing NAS servers.

Compensation

The minimum monthly gross salary for this position is EUR 3,131, paid 14 times per year, based on full-time employment. Higher pay may be possible depending on qualifications, relevant prior experience, and any additional components tied to the specific demands of the workplace.
