Role overview
Madre Integrated Engineering is seeking an experienced Instrument Technician to support instrumentation and control maintenance activities at its plant operations in Al Khor and Al Thakhira, Qatar. The role focuses on keeping equipment dependable, maintaining plant availability, and ensuring work is carried out safely and to original equipment manufacturer standards.
Qualifications and experience
- Diploma in Instrumentation & Control Engineering, or a qualification that is considered equivalent.
- At least 3–4 years of practical experience in instrumentation and control maintenance, ideally within power generation, desalination, utilities, or oil & gas environments.
- Direct exposure to control valves, actuators, transmitters, PLC systems, LT/HT drives, analyzers, sensors, switches, and calibration tasks.
- Working knowledge of SAP/CMMS, interpretation of P&IDs, fault finding, preventive maintenance, calibration work, and OEM maintenance practices.
- Training or certification in First Aid, CPR, Emergency Fire Fighting, H₂S, and Process Safety.
- Good understanding of Permit-to-Work procedures, risk assessment practices, and HSE requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance on instrumentation and control systems to support plant reliability and availability.
- Inspect, service, and repair control valves, transmitters, analyzers, PLC systems, LT/HT drives, sensors, switches, and related instrumentation in line with OEM standards.
- Use SAP/CMMS to execute maintenance work orders, keep maintenance documentation up to date, and prepare calibration and defect rectification reports.
- Follow HSE policies, Permit-to-Work controls, and risk assessment requirements while handling analytical chemicals and test equipment correctly.
