About the Role
This position is for a Housekeeping Aide working in an Ottawa retirement residence. The role focuses on maintaining a clean, sanitary, and safe environment for residents in both private apartments and shared spaces. The hourly wage for this job is $18.82.

What You’ll Do
- Carry out cleaning tasks based on assigned schedules and follow proper sanitation methods and procedures.
- Clean resident apartments as well as common areas, including furniture, kitchen fixtures, washroom fixtures, walls, ceilings, lights, vents, and windows.
- Use floor care equipment and steam-cleaning tools as needed.
- Remove, scrub, spray, and polish carpeted and non-carpeted flooring.
- Collect waste and move it to the proper disposal areas.
- Follow residence rules, safety standards, and safe work practices at all times.
- Complete required records and paperwork according to residence procedures.
- Respect resident rights and help uphold them in daily work.
- Take part in training sessions when required.
- Attend staff meetings when scheduled to stay informed about residence updates and changes.
- Support the Quality Improvement Program.
- Perform duties in a role of trust while working around vulnerable adults.
- Represent the organization’s values and ethical standards with integrity.
- Handle other related tasks as assigned.
What We’re Looking For
- Strong spoken and written English communication skills.
- Ability to provide regular day-to-day updates or feedback.
- Working knowledge of standard institutional cleaning methods.
- Prior experience in commercial, residential, or healthcare cleaning, as well as laundry processes, is an advantage.
- Comfortable working with little direct supervision.
- Able to meet the physical demands of the position.
- Knowledge of a second language is considered a plus.
- A current Vulnerable Sector Check, including a Criminal Background Check, dated within the last six months, is required or must be obtainable.
