School District No. 52 (Prince Rupert) is based in Ts’msyen Territory on B.C.’s north coast and serves Prince Rupert, Hartley Bay, and Port Edward. The district includes a secondary school, a middle school, five elementary schools, a storefront site, and an on-reserve K-12 school in Hartley Bay. It supports around 2,000 students, with 62% identifying as Aboriginal.

Position Details

Conrad Elementary School is seeking a temporary, full-time teacher (1.0 FTE) for Grade 1. The assignment begins on September 8, 2026 and continues until June 30, 2027. This role is a leave replacement and will end when the regular incumbent returns.

Required Qualifications

Candidates should hold a Bachelor of Education in Elementary Education, or an equivalent academic background, along with recent successful teaching experience and/or training at the elementary level.

General Teaching Requirements

All applicants for teaching roles in School District No. 52 must possess certification under the Teachers Act, or the equivalent qualification, and have a solid understanding of local Aboriginal culture, history, and communities.

Teachers are expected to incorporate Aboriginal content and resources where appropriate, communicate effectively with others, manage classrooms confidently, and use educational technology where suitable.

The district also looks for educators who can collaborate well with teaching and non-teaching colleagues, work closely with parents and guardians, and contribute positively to a team-based, learner-focused educational environment.

In addition, successful candidates should be prepared to support student achievement by aligning their work with School Improvement Plans, the District Aboriginal Education Partnership Agreement, and the District Framework for Enhancing Student Learning.
