General Helper

Overview

The General Helper role supports meal preparation, plating, serving, and presentation while helping maintain food quality and a clean, safe work environment in Windsor, Ontario.

Compensation will be set after considering relevant experience, qualifications, skills, and internal pay equity. The employer follows applicable pay transparency requirements, and details about the full rewards package will be discussed by the talent acquisition team during the hiring process. Canadian work experience is not mandatory for this position. Artificial intelligence tools may be used at specific points in recruitment and applicant screening.

Key Duties

• Portion food for the next day’s production and plate individual meal servings.
• Follow safety rules and complete tasks in line with workplace safety expectations.
• Place food in the correct storage locations and follow wrapping, dating, rotation, and food safety practices.
• Carry out general cleaning tasks, including taking trash and waste to the proper disposal areas.
• Hand out supplies, utensils, and portable equipment as required.
• Use approved recipes and production guidelines to maintain food quality, serving temperature, and correct portion sizes.
• Meet all sanitation and safety standards at all times.
• Work across different stations, including the meal distribution and packaging area.
• Be open to learning skid wrapping for finished products.
• Assist with food preparation and cooking when needed.

Candidate Profile

• A valid Food Handler Certificate, or the provincial equivalent, is required.
• Strong organization and time-management abilities are important for handling the workload.
• You should be able to work on your own as well as collaboratively within a team.
• Good verbal and written English skills are needed, along with the ability to understand and follow instructions.
• Prior experience in food service, especially in healthcare, hotels, restaurants, or fast-food settings, is an advantage.
• The role requires the physical ability to perform the work, including some lifting of up to 40 lb.
