General Assistant (Cleaning Team)

Role summary

As a General Assistant in the cleaning team, you will be responsible for keeping the gym to a high standard of hygiene and presentation. Your work will help ensure that workout zones, changing areas, and shared spaces remain welcoming and safe for everyone who uses the facility. This is a 20-hour-per-week position suited to someone who is careful, dependable, and committed to improving the member experience.

Key duties

• Clean all parts of the gym thoroughly, including floors, exercise equipment, studios, lockers, showers, and shared areas.
• Carry out sanitising and disinfection tasks to maintain a healthy environment.
• Remove waste, replace bin liners, and follow correct disposal processes.
• Keep track of cleaning materials and restock them when needed, informing management if supplies run low.
• Work cooperatively with the wider gym team to help deliver a smooth experience for members.
• Report any maintenance issues or repair requirements without delay.
• Maintain the organisation’s cleanliness and safety expectations at all times.

Candidate profile

Previous experience in cleaning or janitorial work is preferred but not required, as training will be provided. You should have a sharp eye for detail, be comfortable working on your own, and be able to manage your time well while prioritising tasks effectively. Good communication skills and a collaborative approach are important. The role also requires flexibility to work evenings and weekends in line with gym opening hours.
