Role overview
This Operations role focuses on keeping delivery and fleet equipment ready for daily use. The work includes checking oil and other fluids, monitoring tire pressure, fueling equipment, supporting the fleet shop, and helping maintain an orderly yard and clean parking area.
Key duties
- Refuel all delivery equipment every day.
- Inspect fluid levels in power equipment on a daily basis.
- Provide help to the fleet shop whenever support is required.
- Coordinate with fleet shop and night warehouse leaders to prepare equipment for service.
- Clean trailers according to the FSQA schedule.
- Keep the parking lot free of debris and tidy.
- Assist night truck spotters in organizing the truck yard.
Education and experience
A high school diploma, GED, or an equivalent blend of education and experience is required. The role calls for 1–3 months of related experience and/or training.
Skills and job abilities
The position requires the ability to understand simple written instructions, short messages, and memos, and to write basic correspondence. The employee should be comfortable sharing information in small groups or one-to-one settings. Basic arithmetic skills are needed for working with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. The role also requires using common sense to follow written, spoken, or diagram-based directions and to solve routine problems in standardized situations. Willingness to learn how to drive and back up tractor-trailers and straight trucks is also part of the job.
Physical requirements
This job involves regular standing, walking, hand use, reaching, talking, and hearing. Frequent climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling are also part of the work. Sitting is only occasional. The role requires frequent lifting or moving of up to 50 pounds. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, along with the ability to adjust focus.
