Freelance Full-Stack Web App Developer

Role overview

Mindrift is hiring experienced Full-Stack Web App Developers to contribute to the Tendem project and create browser-based applications in a hybrid setup where AI agents and human specialists work together. In this role, you will act as an AI Pilot: the AI system takes care of repetitive work, while you bring full-stack engineering skill, architecture decisions, and quality assurance to make sure the applications are stable, usable, and production-ready.

This is a freelance, part-time remote opportunity suited to professionals who can build and deliver interactive web products end-to-end using modern frontend tools, backend APIs, and databases.

What you will work on

You will help design, develop, and improve browser-based applications with real functionality, persistent data, state handling, and user interaction. Example products may include habit trackers, budgeting tools, internal dashboards, small SaaS applications, and AI-enabled tools. Some tasks may also involve standalone Python utilities or data-processing scripts that support these applications.

Key responsibilities

• Create interactive web apps using a frontend framework such as React, Next.js, Vue, or a similar stack, paired with a backend API built in Python or Node.js.
• Plan and implement database structures, schemas, and persistence layers with SQL or NoSQL technologies.
• Add authentication, session handling, and simple role-based access control when required.
• Connect third-party APIs and AI/LLM services into product features.
• Manage application state, input validation, loading behavior, and error handling in a clean and reliable way.
• Build standalone Python scripts and tools for tasks such as data processing, API integration, or lightweight backend support.
• Review AI-produced full-stack code and improve it for correctness, security, speed, and maintainability.
• Write code that is clear, testable, and easy to debug across the frontend, backend, and database layers.

Requirements

• You should have at least 3 years of relevant experience in full-stack web development or in shipping interactive web applications.
• A bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline is considered an advantage.
• You need a strong grasp of full-stack development, modern frontend frameworks, backend architecture, and the full lifecycle of interactive browser applications.
• Experience working across frontend, backend, databases, and APIs, with the ability to design dependable application logic and turn AI-assisted output into production-ready software, is important.
• Strong problem-solving ability, care for detail, and the confidence to independently design and ship complete features are essential.
• Advanced command of JavaScript or TypeScript and at least one modern frontend framework such as React, Next.js, Vue, Svelte, or an equivalent tool is required.
• You should also have solid backend experience with Python frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, or Django, and/or Node.js frameworks such as Express or NestJS.
• Hands-on experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQLite, including basic schema design, is needed.
• Experience building REST APIs, request validation, error handling, and authentication flows is expected.
• Familiarity with deployment platforms such as Vercel, Netlify, Render, Fly.io, or Railway is useful.
• Experience integrating LLM APIs or similar AI services into product features is a strong advantage.
• You should be comfortable using Git and applying basic testing practices.
• A portfolio of completed and shipped web applications is required.
• English proficiency at upper-intermediate level (B2) or higher is required.

Time commitment

The expected workload for active project phases is approximately 10 to 20 hours per week. This is only an estimate and is not guaranteed, and it applies while the project is active.

Compensation

Contributors may earn up to the equivalent of USD 60 per hour, depending on their level and pace of contribution. Pay levels may differ across other projects on the platform based on scope, complexity, and required expertise.
