About the role

As a Fraud Analyst I, you will help protect the bank by keeping a close watch on current and newly opened customer relationships for signs of financial crime, reputational exposure, and fraud risk. This role focuses on reviewing alerts generated by the bank’s BSA/AML/Fraud and Sanctions monitoring tools, spotting activity that may be suspicious, and supporting compliance efforts tied to BSA, AML, and OFAC requirements.

Key duties

  • Examine new customer applications escalated by internal teams to detect possible fraudulent openings.
  • Investigate, document, and either resolve or escalate alerts in the bank’s compliance monitoring systems within the required timelines.
  • Handle customer relationship reviews in line with CIP, CDD, and Beneficial Ownership rules, and complete enhanced due diligence for selected accounts.
  • Analyze reports and transaction activity for indications of suspicious or fraudulent behavior, including large cash activity, returned deposit items, and ACH account verification transactions.
  • Support review of new accounts to ensure compliance with customer identification, customer due diligence, and ownership disclosure requirements.
  • Serve as a point of contact for fraud-related questions from other internal departments.
  • Take on additional responsibilities as needed.

What the bank is looking for

The position calls for at least two years of front-line or operational banking experience, or two years in a fraud-focused role in another industry, such as investigative work in financial crimes. Candidates should be able to explain findings clearly in both spoken and written form, understand basic banking transactions and terms such as ACH transfers and wires, and be comfortable working with Microsoft Office tools.

Working environment

This is a professional office-based role in which most of the day is spent seated and working at a computer. The job also requires moving around the office and buildings to gather or share information. Candidates must be able to carry out the essential functions of the role with or without reasonable accommodation.
