Role overview
This position is based in Toronto, Ontario, and follows a flexible hybrid working model. Applicants must already have valid authorization to work in Canada, and the candidate is responsible for meeting that requirement.
The Equity Research Analyst will partner with portfolio managers within Fidelity (Canada) Investment Management ULC, supporting a team that manages mutual funds and institutional investment strategies, with a primary focus on Canadian markets. The role centers on producing original equity research, developing investment recommendations, and helping strengthen portfolio performance.
What you’ll do
You will conduct in-depth fundamental research across your assigned coverage universe, which includes approximately 20 to 25 stocks. The work involves building proprietary views on sectors, industries, individual companies, and securities by speaking with company leaders, industry specialists, sell-side analysts, and internal investment professionals.
You will also prepare detailed financial forecasts, carry out stock valuation work, and translate your analysis into actionable investment ideas for the portfolio management team. This role offers dedicated sector ownership, exposure to decision-making around capital allocation, access to technology and industry contacts, and the possibility of growing into a portfolio manager role over time.
Candidate profile
Fidelity is looking for someone with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, strong academic results, and between 1 and 10 years of relevant experience. Candidates with suitable experience at any level within that range are welcome to apply. The ideal person brings strong drive, initiative, persistence, and genuine curiosity about identifying new investment opportunities, along with well-developed analytical, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
Application requirements
To be considered, applicants must be eligible to work in Canada and submit all of the following:
- A cover letter
- A current one-page resume that includes the overall GPA from the most recent educational institution attended
- An unofficial transcript
Compensation and benefits
The role includes a base salary plus a discretionary performance bonus. After six months of employment, the company also provides an RRSP contribution without requiring employee matching. The employer states that the compensation package is designed to meet provincial pay transparency standards.
