About the role

Boots is hiring a Dispenser for an in-store pharmacy position in Okehampton. In this role, you will work closely with the pharmacist and wider healthcare colleagues to help deliver pharmacy services safely and efficiently. The position involves direct interaction with patients, supporting them with medicines, answering queries where appropriate, and helping them make informed choices about their health and wellbeing.

This vacancy is strictly based in a UK store. Remote working is not available. Applications from outside the UK will only be moved forward if the candidate can demonstrate the correct UK right to work and any relevant UK qualifications.

The hourly pay for this position is £13.92, rising to as much as £16.64 in selected London locations.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and dispense prescriptions while ensuring medicines are supplied safely and accurately, including ordering, labelling, endorsing, and handing out prescriptions.
• Support the pharmacy and healthcare team in delivering store-based pharmacy services.
• Offer guidance to patients on medicines and direct any complex questions to the pharmacist when needed.
• Follow standard operating procedures to ensure prescription dispensing remains legal and safe.
• Stay current with new in-store processes, systems, and operational changes.
• Help patients manage repeat prescriptions and medicines in a way that supports adherence and reduces waste.

You will also work with developing store technologies and new systems designed to improve patient safety and free up more time for patient care. Ongoing training and regular updates will be provided, along with opportunities to progress into roles such as Pharmacy Technician or into store leadership.

Requirements

• You should have completed the Pharmacy Advisor qualification NVQ2, or an equivalent qualification, or be actively working toward it and have finished the first year of an MPharm degree.
• You must already have a valid right to work in the UK.
• This position is not eligible for Skilled Worker Visa sponsorship.
• Previous experience in a community pharmacy setting would be an advantage.
