Role overview
Philips is hiring a Data Scientist for the MR Service Innovation team to help build AI-led intelligence for MRI service operations. The goal of the role is to move service support from reactive fixes toward a predictive, self-healing model that improves scanner uptime and patient care outcomes globally.
What you will work on
- Contribute as an early member of the Digital & AI team within MR Service Innovation.
- Support the “Autonomous MR” vision by developing models and analytics that help MRI systems detect issues, predict failures, self-heal, and eventually operate with greater autonomy.
- Influence service decisions across thousands of MRI systems worldwide, with direct impact on uptime, patient throughput, and hospital performance.
- Collaborate with R&D engineering, field service teams, MR business leaders, global service platform teams, and external delivery partners.
- Work in an environment that offers exposure to executive-level decisions within the MR business unit.
- Take part in the full AI delivery cycle, from exploring data to deploying solutions in a regulated MedTech setting.
What the role offers
- Hands-on experience in healthcare AI and medical technology.
- Opportunity to sharpen stakeholder communication and business-case development alongside technical problem solving.
- Clear growth path toward senior data science and AI leadership positions as the programme expands.
- Flexible work arrangements and access to health and wellness benefits, depending on region.
Minimum education
A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Econometrics, Artificial Intelligence, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related quantitative field is required. Vocational education in one of these areas is also accepted where relevant.
Experience
At least 4 years of experience is needed. This should include work with data analytics, data science, data mining, artificial intelligence, pattern recognition, or a similar discipline.
Ideal background
- Experience building, validating, and deploying machine learning or statistical models using real operational data.
- Exposure to service or maintenance analytics, time-series forecasting, NLP for technical documents, or IoT/sensor data.
- Experience working with large CRM or ITSM datasets such as Salesforce or ServiceNow is a plus.
- Strong Python skills with tools such as pandas, scikit-learn, XGBoost, PyTorch, or TensorFlow.
- Comfort using SQL, data visualisation platforms, and cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Ability to turn analysis into clear, business-focused communication for non-technical audiences.
- Comfort working in ambiguity, building from scratch, and challenging assumptions through data.
- Interest in healthcare and motivation to contribute to better MRI uptime for patients and care teams.
Working style
This is an onsite role in Bengaluru, Karnataka. Philips expects office-based teams to spend at least 3 days each week in person, and onsite positions require full-time presence at company facilities.
