Data Analyst (Power BI / Tableau)

A key part of the work is supporting KYC-related data needs and developing new data assets for population management in that space. Key responsibilities

• Review and confirm data movement across complicated business and technology ecosystems with multiple systems involved.
• Perform source-to-target traceability checks, verify transformation rules, and reconcile data between legacy platforms and target-state solutions.
• Assess data quality through profiling and investigation, then turn identified issues into clear remediation guidance.
• Document data sources, control points, and working assumptions in a way that satisfies audit, governance, and regulatory expectations.

Required experience and skills

The ideal candidate should bring around 5 years of experience in data analyst, business data analyst, or a similar role, particularly within large transformation, regulatory, or technology uplift programs. Strong working knowledge of SQL, Python, Excel, and visualisation tools such as Power BI or Tableau is expected. Experience with source-to-target mapping, profiling, reconciliation, and end-to-end business process analysis is essential. Familiarity with Teradata is required, and knowledge of Westpac xDW, as well as consumer and business banking products and services, would be an advantage.

A solid grasp of data structures, state models, data lineage, and statistical analysis methods is also important. The candidate should understand core data quality dimensions such as completeness, validity, accuracy, consistency, uniqueness, integrity, and timeliness, and know how to incorporate them into analytical workflows. A background in data engineering is a plus, especially experience with Airflow and DBT, building scalable data products, designing ingestion and integration structures, and working across both on-premise and cloud environments.

Education

A bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, finance, statistics, mathematics, information systems, or data science is preferred. Relevant certifications can add value but are not mandatory.
