About the Role

SC Johnson is a fifth-generation family business with more than 130 years of history, known for consumer brands such as Raid®, Glade®, Ziploc® and others sold in markets around the world. The company is focused on building a better future for people, communities, and the planet, and is looking for a Continuous Improvement Lead in Brantford, Ontario, Canada. This role reports to the Associate Manager of Continuous Improvement and works closely with operations and maintenance to raise line performance by identifying, analyzing, and resolving root causes tied to PPIs and top losses.

The position also plays a coaching role on the production line, helping teams understand and apply lean manufacturing methods, including CEN, CIL, and troubleshooting tools such as 5WHY and fishbone analysis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the rollout of continuous improvement initiatives and help project sponsors or process owners bring them to completion.
  • Measure, review, and communicate performance results across safety, quality, productivity, and cost.
  • Manage the site’s centerline system to ensure production machinery and equipment are maintained at the appropriate centerline settings.
  • Study line data to find and rank loss-elimination opportunities, including building current-state and future-state loss trees.
  • Plan and run Kaizen workshops that support incremental gains in production areas.
  • Lead waste-reduction efforts across the site.
  • Drive root-cause analysis for major recurring line losses.
  • Train, coach, and develop others in lean tools, methods, and practices to strengthen a continuous improvement culture.
  • Help design and implement new processes, process controls, reporting tools, and training materials.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to identify training gaps and coordinate completion of required learning.
  • Ensure all SCJ Brantford manufacturing employees follow Good Manufacturing Practices as required.

Experience and Skills

Applicants should have a high school diploma and practical experience leading teams in a manufacturing setting. Strong communication skills and the ability to influence change within a team are important. The role requires the ability to coach others in lean problem-solving methods such as 5W+2H, PDCA, BDR, and ECRS, along with working knowledge of common computer applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Preferred experience includes exposure to APT and leadership of lean initiatives, as well as strong technical knowledge.

Work Environment and Additional Details

This role is mainly based in a manufacturing environment. Minimal travel may be required to support projects. The company is hiring to fill an existing vacancy.

Total Rewards and Pay

The expected base pay for this position is CAD 37.00 per hour. Actual starting pay may vary depending on skills, experience, education, and location. Depending on job level, eligibility, and performance, the total compensation package may also include profit sharing and short-term and/or long-term incentives.
