Role overview

The Communications Advisor will sit within the Communications team and play a key part in delivering Tourism New Zealand’s strategy, plans, and activities. What you’ll be responsible for

  • Helping deliver internal and external communications that support business strategy and engagement goals.
  • Working with colleagues across New Zealand and offshore locations to coordinate communications activity.
  • Supporting consumer campaigns and wider tourism industry communication.

  • Writing and editing content for a range of audiences and channels.
  • Managing digital communication activity, including content planning, performance review, and optimisation.
  • Assisting with media-related work, including preparing media materials.
  • Publishing and updating website content through content management systems.
  • Using AI and digital communication tools with confidence and a willingness to keep developing capability.
  • Building strong working relationships with stakeholders and collaborating effectively across teams.

  • Experience managing digital channels, including content planning, analytics, and performance improvement.
  • Exposure to media support work, including drafting media communications.
  • Hands-on experience using website CMS tools to publish and maintain content.
  • Awareness of the New Zealand environment, including cultural sensitivity and the needs of varied audiences.
  • Experience in a high-performing marketing setting, or familiarity with the travel and tourism sector, would be an advantage.

Additional information

This is a full-time, permanent position based in Wellington, New Zealand. Domestic travel may occasionally be required.
