Role overview

This role focuses on procurement support for a specific category of items at the Jamnagar site. The buyer will review vendor technical specifications against user requirements, handle initial vendor negotiations, and support purchase processing and issue resolution in coordination with senior buying leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Issue enquiries for the assigned items based on business needs.
• Verify that user-defined technical requirements align with the vendor’s technical offer, and flag any gaps or mismatches to the Senior Buyer or Buying Manager.
• Conduct the first stage of commercial negotiation with vendors and share the negotiation outcome with the Buying Manager for final closure.
• Create purchase orders for approved items and ensure the related details are entered correctly in SAP.
• Respond to procurement-related audit queries in a timely manner, resolve them where possible, and escalate unresolved matters to the Senior Buyer or Buying Manager when needed.

Education requirement

A B.Tech or B.E. degree is required.

Experience requirement

The position calls for 2 to 6 years of relevant experience, with exposure to sourcing and manufacturing within the assigned category. Preferred background includes category-based purchasing and supply management in a comparable plant operations setting.
