Role overview
Pluralsight is hiring a Business Development Representative to drive outbound prospecting within a dedicated territory and generate high-quality early-stage opportunities for the sales team. In this role, you will reach out through phone, email, and social channels, then hand qualified prospects to account executives for discovery conversations that they begin and AEs lead.
The position is available for remote work across Australia, including Melbourne, New South Wales, and Victoria. It is suited to someone who is enthusiastic about learning, comfortable handling objections, and confident working the phones. This is a strong entry point into a technology sales career, with coaching from experienced sellers, exposure to modern sales tools, and the chance to contribute directly to growth.
Key responsibilities
You will work closely with sales representatives to shape messaging, define target personas, and build account plans. A major part of the role involves researching accounts, finding decision-makers and influencers, assembling prospect lists, and designing call and outreach strategies.
Outreach will be conducted across multiple channels, including outbound calls, email, social messaging, events, and other touchpoints. You will qualify leads, convert them into sales-ready opportunities, and ensure they are smoothly passed to the sales team for discovery and next steps.
The role also includes maintaining pipeline visibility, updating activity records, and preparing reports and forecasts in Salesforce. Success in the role will be measured by meeting and exceeding monthly targets for qualified meetings and pipeline creation.
What we are looking for
The ideal candidate is proactive, self-driven, and has some prior experience in a selling environment. A genuine interest in building a career in sales and a willingness to keep learning are important.
You should bring strong communication, writing, and time-management abilities, along with the confidence to collaborate effectively with teammates. The role also calls for resilience, a problem-solving mindset, adaptability under pressure, and a resourceful approach to challenges.
Working conditions and additional details
This role is primarily carried out in a home office or office setting and consists of standard computer-based work.
Travel requirements may vary depending on the sales position and business needs. Some quota-bearing sales roles may involve limited travel, while others can require travel of up to 40%.
