Role Overview

This is a short-term, task-driven contract for a STEM biology specialist working fully remotely. The assignment runs for 3 months and is compensated at $250 for each task completed.

Work Expectations

The role requires a minimum commitment of 4 hours per day, with the possibility of working up to 40 hours a week. You must also be available for at least 4 hours of overlap with Pacific Standard Time (PST).

Responsibilities

• Create demanding biology problems that can test the boundaries of large language models.
• Produce detailed, step-by-step solutions supported by precise and logically structured reasoning.
• Work with LLM researchers to ensure the problem set matches evaluation objectives, particularly for topics where models tend to perform poorly.
• Help shape new benchmark sets drawn from biology coursework ranging from early undergraduate material to doctoral-level concepts.
• Work through complex biological questions using a systematic and analytical approach.
• Present biology ideas in an easy-to-understand way, using plain language and, when useful, visuals or simulations.
• Give thorough feedback and annotations to support AI evaluation processes.

Requirements

• Master’s or PhD in Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or a closely related discipline, or current enrollment in a PhD or postdoctoral program.
• Strong capability in research and analytical problem-solving.
• Comfort with providing detailed feedback and annotations.
• Original thinking and the ability to approach problems creatively.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills suited to remote work.
• Self-directed and able to work without close supervision.
• Access to a desktop or laptop and stable internet connectivity.
• Proven ability to tackle complex biology problems in a structured and logical manner.
• Ability to explain biological concepts clearly, including through simple language, visuals, or simulations when appropriate.
• A LinkedIn profile must be included in the resume.
• Background verification will be conducted after onboarding.
