Role overview

The company is seeking a BI Developer who brings a collaborative mindset, strong Power BI expertise, and a solid grounding in data governance. The role involves building reporting solutions as part of a broader data visualization strategy, handling report sourcing and delivery from enterprise systems, and helping convert raw data into useful business outcomes.

You will be responsible for creating and maintaining BI solutions, building dashboards that provide clear insights, and helping shape standards around governance, security, and data quality. Power BI will be the primary platform, along with other reporting tools and rationalization work inside the BI function.

What you'll do

• Build, enhance, and roll out Power BI dashboards, reports, and data models.
• Maintain existing reports with proper documentation and ongoing support.
• Improve DAX performance and tune Power BI solutions for speed and scale.
• Reduce manual effort by automating recurring reporting workflows and aligning with reporting best practices.
• Assist with report analysis, administrative tasks, usage tracking, and optimization of licensing spend.
• Develop custom scripts to pull data from unstructured or semi-structured sources, including data warehouses, BI cubes, and Snowflake.
• Support dashboard deployment, report consolidation, and usability improvements for end users.
• Work alongside data engineers to define, validate, and prepare source data for Power BI consumption.
• Partner with business stakeholders to identify KPIs and create self-service BI solutions.
• Communicate report progress and status clearly and proactively to stakeholders.
• Provide Power BI training, user support, current documentation, and knowledge-transfer sessions for junior team members.

What we're looking for

We are looking for someone with strong BI engineering or analytics experience, advanced SQL skills, and hands-on expertise with Power BI. The ideal candidate should understand reporting governance, administration basics, and the development lifecycle used in modern analytics environments.

Education and experience

• A bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a related discipline is required.
• A master’s degree such as MBA, MS in Computer Science, M.Tech in Computer Science, or similar is preferred.
• Relevant background of 3 to 4 years in BI engineering or data analytics, including advanced SQL programming such as PL/SQL.

Technical requirements

• Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate or an equivalent Power BI certification is preferred.
• Practical experience with Microsoft Power BI, including Power Query, DAX, dataflows, and related features.
• Basic understanding of report governance and Power BI administration.
• Working knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD, Azure DevOps, Git/Jenkins version control, report maintenance, and SQL scripting.
• Experience extracting data from systems such as Azure SQL DB, MySQL, Cosmos DB, SharePoint, and scripting environments like Python and Unix shell.

Additional knowledge and working style

• Strong understanding of report design, development, maintenance, data extraction from DWH and cube layers, and dimensional data modeling.
• Hands-on capability with Python, Spark, and Unix/Linux shell scripting.
• Exposure to data warehousing concepts and cloud platforms such as Azure and Snowflake, including services like Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Analysis Services, Azure Databricks, and Azure SQL DW/Synapse.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder handling, and analytical thinking.
• A self-driven approach with the ability to perform well in a fast-moving development environment.
• Comfort working with IDEs, database servers, Git, continuous integration tools, unit-testing tools, and defect tracking systems.
