About the role
ALLEN Digital is hiring a Backend Software Engineer II to build and support high-impact systems that run its edtech platform. This position involves taking ownership across the software development lifecycle, from architecture and design through implementation, testing, documentation, and operations. The role also includes close collaboration with product and engineering teams to deliver dependable, scalable software.
Key responsibilities
- Own the architecture, design, development, testing, documentation, and operation of backend services and systems.
- Ensure the solution is easy to extend, well-designed, and strong in quality, performance, scalability, and uptime.
- Partner with product managers and engineering colleagues to meet delivery goals.
- Mentor and support junior engineers through technical guidance and coaching.
- Contribute as a backend engineer with a strong interest in distributed systems and cloud-based development, deployment, and delivery.
- Work with stakeholders to define both functional and non-functional software requirements.
- Create high-level product specifications with a focus on integration points and implementation feasibility.
- Produce clean, maintainable code and move quickly while shipping features.
