About Carrot
Carrot, previously known as Virtual Field, is a modern visual diagnostics platform designed to deliver clinically validated perimetry and functional vision testing without relying on outdated equipment. Its portable, automated exams are built to make eye care diagnostics more efficient, accurate, and comfortable for patients. The platform covers visual fields, color vision, ocular motility, and pupillometry, with every assessment clinically validated and connected to five billable CPT codes, helping clinics see faster ROI and smoother care delivery.
About the Role
Carrot is hiring an Associate Product Manager to serve as the operational center point for the product and engineering organizations. In this role, you will help feature work move forward by supporting scoping, writing and maintaining tickets, keeping the backlog organized, coordinating QA, managing bug triage, sharing stakeholder updates, and handling required quality documentation.
This position is highly collaborative and suits someone who is structured, meticulous, and motivated to help create software in a healthcare setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with product and engineering leaders to define new features and turn needs into clear stories, acceptance criteria, and delivery requirements.
- Keep the backlog organized by ensuring items are refined, properly tagged, prioritized, and ready for engineering to begin.
- Manage quality and compliance records, including design reviews, traceability matrices, risk assessments, and QSR-related documents.
- Plan and run QA and UAT activities by testing features, recording defects, checking fixes, and confirming that releases are ready.
- Review incoming bug submissions and clinical feedback from sales, customer success, and end users, then route and prioritize them appropriately.
- Update project dashboards regularly so feature progress, blockers, timelines, and upcoming releases remain visible.
- Monitor active engineering work from initial scoping through delivery, identify risks early, and help keep releases on track.
Requirements
- 2 to 4 years of experience in product operations, product management, project management, QA, software delivery, clinical operations, or a similar field.
- Strong written communication skills with the ability to document requirements, tickets, bugs, and acceptance criteria clearly.
- Prior experience working with engineering teams and using agile development processes.
- Strong organizational habits, close attention to detail, and dependable follow-through.
- Comfortable testing software, reproducing defects, and validating fixes.
- Able to collaborate across product, engineering, design, customer success, sales, and clinical groups.
- Bonus experience includes healthcare technology, digital health, or clinical software.
- Additional bonus points for familiarity with QSR documentation, design controls, traceability matrices, or risk analysis.
- Experience with tools such as Jira, Figma, GitHub, Asana, Trello, or similar platforms is preferred.
- Experience in a startup or fast-paced product environment is an advantage.
Perks and Benefits
- Chance to join a fast-growing company working on innovation in the eye care industry.
- Competitive base pay of USD 90,000 to USD 100,000.
- Health, dental, and vision coverage as part of the benefits package.
- Equity may be considered.
- Opportunities for professional development and career growth.
- Supportive, collaborative team culture focused on innovation and results.
Why This Role Matters
This is a strong fit for someone who likes converting ambiguity into actionable requirements, keeping cross-functional teams aligned, and helping product work move from concept to launch with clarity and discipline.
